چکیده

Flow cytometer (FACScan) was used to determine the range of T lymphocyte subpopulations in normal Thai blood donors at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, Chiang Mai. Reference population consisted of 150 healthy HIV seronegative blood donors. T lymphocyte subsets were analysed using two-color immunophenotyping of peripheral blood lymphocytes with a lysed whole blood technique and enumerated. The study showed that the normal values for CD3+ lymphocytes (percent), CD4+ lymphocytes (percent), CD8+ lymphocytes (percent), CD4/CD8 ratio, absolute CD3+ lymphocyte count, absolute CD4+ lymphocyte count and absolute CD8+ lymphocyte count were 64 +/- 8.8, 36.1 +/- 6.4, 25.7 +/- 7.3, 1.5 +/- 0.6, 1,630 +/- 600 cells/microl, 910 +/- 300 cells/microl and 670 +/- 350 cells/microl, respectively. We found that the values of CD3, CD4 and CD4/CD8 ratio were significantly lower than those in the Caucasians but those of CD8 was not significantly different. This observations have important clinical implication for the use of T lymphocyte subsets measurement, especially in the management of HIV infection in Thais. These normal ranges can be used as a reference for the decisions in clinical practice.

Comparison of Two Flow Cytometric Methods for Detection of Human Invariant Natural Killer T Cells (iNKT)

Background: Invariant natural killer cells (iNKT) are an important immunoregulatory T cell subset. Currently several flow cytometry-based approaches exist for the identifi-cation of iNKT cells, which rely on using the 6B11 monoclonal antibody or a combina-tion of anti-Vα24 and anti-Vβ11 antibodies. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the ability of two flow cytometry-based methods f...

فنوتایپینگ لنفوسیت‌های T خاطره‌ای در گردش در سالک

Background and Aim: The heterogenous population of memory T lymphocytes is distinguished based on surface markers and effector functions such as cytokine secretion. Recently, two subsets of memory T cells are defined by expression of chemokine receptor CCR7 and CD45RA designating as "central memory" T cells (TCM) and "effector memory" T cells (TEM). The objective of this staudy was to evaluate ...

Flow cytometric immunophenotyping of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma using CD3 gating.

Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) is a lymphoproliferative neoplasm of helper T lymphocytes caused by human T-cell leukemia virus type-1 (HTLV-1). The disease was first described in Kyushu, in southwestern Japan, and most frequently occurs in endemic areas, such as Japan, the Caribbean basin, West Africa, Brazil, and northern Iran. ATLL is essentially a disease of adults, characterized clin...

Sex Hormones and Peripheral White Blood Cell Subsets in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients

Background: Systemic Lupus Eyrythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease charac-terized by antibodies to nuclear antigens, particularly anti-dsDNA. Imbalance between production and destruction of immune cells causes cytopenia. Sex hormones have im-munomodulatory effects; estrogen increases the production of autoantibodies in SLE prone NZB/NZW mice. Objective: To investigate the relationship bet...

Immunohistochemical analysis of T-cell subsets in the inflammatory infiltrates of alopecia areata and its comparison with androgenetic alopecia

Background: Androgenic hair loss (AGA) and alopecia areata (AA) are common conditions which sometimes are histologically difficult to differentiate. This study was conducted to detect differentiating features of these two disorders with IHC analysis of T-cell subsets in the inflammatory infiltrates of alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia. Methods: This cr...
